The taxi service is one of the oldest trades in Ibiza and remains one of the most widely used and sought-after ways of getting around the island. However, getting yourself a cab can be quite a challenge, depending on the time of day and your exact location.

The first thing you need to know is that you can’t hail down a cab on the street in Ibiza. You can try, but they won’t pull over. So then, how do you get a taxi in Ibiza? Ibiza’s taxi fares are much like any other tourist city in Spain. There is an initial charge of €3.25 and then a day-time tariff of €0.98 per kilometre, applicable from 7 am to 9 pm, and a night-time tariff of €1.20 per kilometre, from 9 pm to 7 am. On Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, the tariff is also €1.20 per kilometre. The journey between the airport and Playa d’en Bossa or Ibiza city usually comes in somewhere between €11 and €15, depending on traffic and the time of day.

Watch out though! If you call a taxi and make the driver wait, you will be charged at a rate of €17.61 per hour during the day, and €21.57 at night. Most taxis in Ibiza will accept credit or debit cards. However, if you’re not carrying cash and you need confirm this, check with the driver beforehand or ask when you book over the phone. It’s also no harm in asking what the estimated fare will be for your journey.
