Just 7 kilometres from the town of Sant Josep, we discover Cala Bassa, one of the most magical corners of the island of Ibiza thanks to the colour of its waters. The people of Ibiza quite rightly gave the cove the name “bassa”. All visitors are taken by surprise that it is not very deep at the point of access to the cove. This kind of artificial swimming pool was created by opening up a small channel, and its dimensions make it attractive to swimmers in the area. 

Cala Bassa is one of the most famous coves on the island of Ibiza. More than 250 metres long and 30 metres wide, it is a white sandy beach free of buildings, located in a natural enclave surrounded by pine trees and known for its clear, clean water. You can take part in water sports, and you will also find the basic services you would expect to allow you to enjoy a day at this cove, such as hammocks, parasols, showers and toilets.

There are several places where you can buy drinks and food, as well as an exclusive beach club with shows on selected days. You will also find a spot with small cliffs in the area, which many swimmers make the most of to sunbathe in greater privacy.

Another nearby resort is San Antonio, which is about 15 kilometres away. Getting to Cala Bassa from there or Ibiza Town is very easy because Cala Bassa has a large private car park and another smaller car park which is free of charge. You can also get to Cala Bassa by taxi or public bus. And, if you’re the kind of person who loves the sea and prefers to arrive by boat, there are several vessels which leave from the port of San Antonio, travel around the bay and take a pleasant trip down the coast until they reach Cala Bassa.

Very close to Cala Bassa is another of the most well-known coves on the island of Ibiza: Cala Conta. It also has clear water and white sand, and the sunset from this beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. Make the most of the day and visit the best coves in the area!
