SANTA EULALIA DEL RÍO: A FAMILY-FRIENDLY, RELAXING ENVIRONMENT ON THE ISLAND OF IBIZA.

04 September, 2018

Santa Eulària des Riu, or Santa Eulalia del Río, is the third most populous city on the island of Ibiza. It is located about 22 kilometres from the airport and has a current population of over 35,000 inhabitants. The town grew around the 16th century church that is still located in Puig de Missa, where visitors and locals alike can enjoy incredible panoramic views of the town next to the Mediterranean Sea. The Ethnography Museum in Can Ros is also located in this area. It’s an old country house where several historical-ethnographic scenes of Ibizan tradition are depicted. Santa Eulalia was one of the first areas to offer five-star hotels, which were aimed at a more family-oriented and quiet clientele. It’s no surprise that today it stands out for its intimate and relaxing atmosphere, particularly when compared to the rest of the island.

The town is also an important cultural and gastronomic spot on the Pityusic islands. It has some of the most highly-regarded traditional and modern culinary spaces according to the major leisure guides. And don’t forget, it's here that we also find the Ibiza Convention Centre. A renovated seafront promenade and small beach surround the city. What's more, the new marina offers all kinds of services for both residents and visitors who dock their boats there and other inhabitants who come to sample the restaurants in the area.

Paisaje

Originally, a river crossed the city; Río is Spanish for "river". Over the years and with the effects of the rain, the river has undergone changes to make it look more like a stream than a river. Despite this, residents proudly declare that it’s the only river on the Balearic Islands.

The beaches and coves of this Ibizan town also deserve a visit, especially because of the peaceful atmosphere that emanates throughout most of them. For example, Cala Boix leaves visitors awestruck with its black sand and completely unique landscape; Aguas Blancas is one of the coves most highly regarded by visitors, and because it has a parking area, you can bring your own vehicle.
